GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS

Eligibility

The contest is open to all 2021 official members of Philippine Guild of Watercolorists, Inc.

Rules and Regulations

1. All entries shall be limited to the following formats:

• Medium :Watercolor on Paper

• Size : Unrestricted

• Theme : “Binondo Church: The Protomartyr’s Home”

Description: The artwork immortalizes Binondo Church as the home of San Lorenzo Ruiz – a family man, layman and a man of sacrifice in defense of faith.

2. All entries must be an original creation by the participant. Artist may use their own reference photos or photos of others as long as they have permission and/or it is royalty free. You may also use these free reference photos provided by Binondo Church:

3. Submission of Entries:

a. Each contestant may submit only one entry.

b. All entries together must be submitted to Philippine Guild of Watercolorists not later than October 15, 2021. Email to pgw.submissions@gmail.com with the subject title “Binondo Church Entry”. Please rename your file: Artist’s Name_Title_Size_Year_Price.

c. Guidelines and other necessary information regarding the activity are also indicated in the Google Entry form.

d. By submitting an entry, the contestant agrees to all the competition rules and mechanics, including the decision of the jury.

e. The contest is free and does not require a registration fee.

Sale of Paintings

All entries shall have the option to be available for sale. Artists will shoulder framing and shipping of sold artworks to the Client. 40% of all artworks sold to be donated to Binondo Church.

The artists will maintain the right of Binondo Church to use the winning piece’s image in their publication materials even beyond the sale of the painting to a 3rd party.

Intellectual Property

1. Contestants affirm that their submissions are their own original work, have not been digitally enhanced/ manipulated.

2. An entry submission into this contest constitutes permission to use the winners’ names, prize information, and other information provided on the entry form for publicity purposes, without further permission and compensation.

3. Binondo Church shall have the right to adapt, crop or otherwise use the winning submissions in part or in its entirety in whatever manner it deems appropriate for the design and printing of the Binondo Calendar 2022 and other pubmats.

4. Binondo Church reserves the right to use the winning entries in the publication of the Binondo Calendar 2022 and publication materials that will serve the needs of Binondo Church from 2022 and beyond.

Criteria for Selection of Winner

1. There will be one (1) winning entry which shall be selected by a panel of judges chosen by Binondo Church, whose decision shall be final.

2. Entries shall be judged according to the following merits:

• Creativity and Originality, 25%

• Impact, 25%

• Composition, 25%

• Abiding with Theme, 25%

Prizes:

• Grand winner will receive a gift package worth Php5,000 from PGW Sponsors and will be featured in the 2022 Calendar of Binondo Church and various publication materials.

• People’s Choice Award – will receive a gift package worth Php3000 from PGW Sponsors and will be featured in various publication materials of Binondo Church.

The winners shall be notified via email and SMS.

Disclaimer

1. PGW reserves the right to cancel or modify the competition and award the prize by alternate means if fraud is determined at any time, including after the submission window has closed.

2. If any of the winners are determined to have violated any of the competition rules and guidelines, he/she will be required to forfeit the award and return the prize, even if the determination was made after it has been awarded.
